Oil City Derrick’s monthly report for August shows a nice gain in both new wells and production for Kansas. A traveling sales lady, vending a line of face powders, stopped at a home on the hill the first of the week, in a thoroughly disgusted disposition. “I never saw such a town,” said she. “I’ve been all over the valley and there are only two women in all that part of town who use face powder.”

Lucien Rudd, Willard Suffield, Ivan Sponholtz, Henry Geis, Mrs. Sam Slifer, and Miss Ruth Thompson had their tonsils and adenoids removed at the hospital this week.

County Attorney Wheeler and Undersheriff Hannaman drove to Ponca City, Oklahoma, Tuesday looking up evidence on one of the criminal cases which is to come up in the October term.

If trash cans were placed at the principal corners in the down town section and people required to throw their trash into these cans, the littered conditions of the streets would be ended and the appearance of Main street greatly improve. Seven trash cans properly placed would do it. The expense would be slight while the improvement would be great. Why not have a system of garbage cans and garbage collection here in Marion?
