Marion County’s planned recycling program took an important step Monday. It got an official start date. Transfer station director Rollin Schmidt said the program would begin May 1.

Kenn Wealand and Jill Meier exercise every workday at Marion Wellness Center. They are participants in a “Biggest Loser” contest being waged among employees of Prairieland Partners. Organized by another employee, the contest has a pot of $500 for the winner.

Marion High School basketball player Elliot Hett was named to the Mid-Central Activities Association honorable-mention team. His parents are Jerry and Loreen Hett of Marion.

Daryl and Pat Enos are enjoying their new, spacious store location at 906 E. Main St., Marion. They operate River Mill Woods, a business that provides picture framing and handcrafted wooden caskets and furniture.
