Board members are busy making plans to remodel the old Santa Fe train station in Marion into a community recreation center for youngsters. The city is purchasing land south of the courthouse, and Lynn Christensen is donating the building.
Theresa Ann Kroupa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa, and Mark Leo Jirak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Jirak of Tampa, were married Nov. 29 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen.
In spite of unseasonably cold weather, park ranger Terry Holt says a small group of dedicated fishermen have taken advantage of ice fishing to fill their freezers with bass and panfish.
Employees of A.L. Duckwall’s store had a Christmas party Sunday evening at the Crown-Uptown dinner theater in Wichita.
Dick Maggard of Marion has been hired to work part-time for the Marion-Florence school district. He will help with building maintenance and serve as a substitute bus driver and custodian.
Dedicated Marion golfers who like to play all year round have come up with a way to winterize their golf carts. To make the rounds more bearable in cold weather, Al Bernhardt and Harold Keazer have installed Plexiglas windbreaks in the rear and on the sides of their gas-powered carts.
