City commissioners established an industrial development board Monday afternoon, naming John Crofoot chairman. Other members appointed include Matthew Classen, Bud Pierce, Larry Reiswig, and D.W. Wheeler.

Jim Donahue is pictured on the front page driving an antique buggy during the Marion County Fair parade. The buggy carries a sign to remind spectators of other upcoming celebrations. Durham’s centennial will be next year. Tampa will also celebrate its centennial in 1987.

A major project to remodel 11 patient rooms at St. Luke Hospital is scheduled to begin this week.

C&M Restaurant will open Sunday in the location of the former Dine-Inn Café. The new owner is offering a free carnation to the first 200 women at the opening.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Havlik celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday with a family dinner at Kingfisher’s Inn. A surprise reception at the Havlik home preceded the dinner.

Two youngsters won their division in all three contests during Marion’s Harvest Moon Festival. Winners of the watermelon eating, seed spitting, and bubblegum blowing contest were Matt Helmer and Scott Dalrymple.
