Alexanderwohl setting for Unruh, Ortman wedding

Lindsey Ortman and Austin Unruh married on Aug. 3 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel.

The bride is the daughter of Stan and Gwen Ortman of Freeman, S.D., and the granddaughter of Marian Brundage of Camp Verde, Ariz., and Arlan and Ellen Ortman of Freeman.

She is a graduate of Freeman Academy and Bethel College. She works in the severe multiple disability classroom at Chisholm Middle School in Newton.

The groom is the son of Duane and Karen Unruh of Goessel and the grandson of Betty Schmidt and Hilda Unruh, both of Goessel.

He is a graduate of Goessel High School and will graduate in December from Bethel College with a degree in mathematical sciences with education licensure.

The bride and groom were escorted by their parents. Pastors Steve Schmidt and Linda Ewert performed the ceremony. Maya Yoder, Aaron Rudeen, John Regier, Kyle Howard, and Patrick Loganbill were readers. Karen Schlabbaugh played organ and piano, Anna Cook played cello, and Kelly Reed sang.

Kelsey Ortman, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sharayah Williams and Brittany Voth. Justine Unruh, sister-in-law of the groom, was the bride’s personal attendant.

Braden and Kyle Unruh, brothers of the groom, were best men. Jordan Ortman was a groomsman.

Claey Ortman, brother of the bride, Caleb Stephens, Greg Shelly, and Michael Unruh were ushers. Kelsie Miller and Chris Riesen lit candles. Amanda Regehr and Lizzy Shelly were the guestbook attendants.

The rehearsal dinner was Aug. 2 at the church; the groom’s parents were hosts. The reception was at Emma Creek Farm near Goessel; Jim and Mary Schmidt and Ben and Tina Schrag were hosts. A South Dakota reception was Aug. 11 at Salem-Zion Mennonite Church near Freeman.

The couple honeymooned with a trip to Colorado and Wyoming. They reside in North Newton.
