Alvin Hiebert, 97, died Saturday in Walnut Hill, Fla.

He was born to Frank and Agnes Hoepnner Hiebert on June 22, 1915 in Hillsboro. He was a farmer.

He married Leah Friesen on Oct. 8, 1944. They lived in Hillsboro until 1967 when they moved to Florida. Leah Friesen preceded him in death in 1995. An infant brother and two sisters also preceded him in death.

He is survived by sons: Lee and Chris Hiebert of Atmore, Ala., and Henry Hiebert of Molino, Fla.; two sisters: Edna Eck of Copeland and Frieda Litwiller of Montezuma; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services was held at 10:30 a.m. today at Walnut Hill Mennonite Church with ministers Wilbert Peters, Mike Koehn, and Carlos Koehn officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Hill Memorial Gardens.
