Appraiser decision still up in the air

Staff writer

The inability to find a new county appraiser has caused commissioners to look for outside help, in case the search continues to stall.

Commissioners spoke Thursday with Pam Palmer of McCully and Associates about contracting the company’s services while the county tries to fill the position.

“It’s getting to the point that we really need to have things continuing,” County Clerk Tina Spencer said.

Commissioner Roger Fleming and Chairman Randy Dallke decided to wait for the status of a current offer before contracting, though. Commissioner Dan Holub was away at the Kansas Association of Counties Conference.

In other business, commissioners met in closed session twice for five minutes to discuss personnel. No action was taken on return to open session.
