Juniors Zach Wiens and Leighton Wagner of Goessel and senior Claire Heyen of Hillsboro competed Saturday at the state piano festival at Wichita State University.

Wiens and Heyen received 1 ratings, while Wagner received a 2.

Heyen is the daughter of Bruce and Janell Heyen, and this year was her fourth straight 1 at the event.

Wiens received his third 1 rating, and hopes to make it four next year. It was Wagner’s first trip to the state festival. Their teacher is Cynthia Goerzen.
