Bartel takes 2nd at Halstead
Trojans place 11th
Hillsboro High School’s wrestling team placed 11th with five wrestlers finishing in the top six over the weekend at a Halstead tournament.
Scoring 62 points, the Trojans missed a top 10 spot in the 16-team tournament by only nine points.
The Trojans’ 120-pounder Mac Bartel finished second after receiving a bye and pinning two opponents, only to be pinned in the finals by a Wichita Independent wrestler.
Raymond Johnston placed third at 113 pounds, pinning two opponents and losing by points in two matches.
At 145 pounds, Travis King came in fourth going 3-2 for the tournament.
Hillsboro’s 126-pounder William Spaich and 170-pounder Jaden Priest each placed sixth in their brackets.
Hillsboro wrestles again Saturday in Eureka.
