Benefit supper planned for sick quarterback

Staff writer

Luke Moore’s friends are leery to talk about him, but are doing their best to help him.

The former Hillsboro quarterback began chemotherapy treatment Monday in Kansas City.

“He’s been here for us, so we want to be here for him to,” said a friend, whom asked their name withheld.

A 2012 graduate, Moore was getting ready for a football career at Greenville College (Ill.) before being diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in June.

Ewing’s Sarcoma is a bone cancer often found in adolescents. Moore has a tumor on his right knee.

“He’s doing really well,” Moore’s friend said. “He’s kept his head high when others would stay away from it.”

Moore’s friends and family are organizing a benefit supper at Parkview church to help support medical payments.

The supper will be a free will donation taco and cookie bar, starting at 5 p.m. July 17.

Those wishing to help or donate to the benefit supper are encouraged to contact Tyler Ediger or Jesse Allen.
