Business loses $5,000 in theft

A burglar took more than $3,000 in cash during a July 20 theft from La Cabana in Hillsboro, Police Chief Dan Kinning said Tuesday.

Combined with the value of alcohol taken in the burglary, the loss is estimated at $5,000, he said.

Kinning has urged restaurant managers not to keep much cash on hand. The restaurant was targeted in a similar burglary about two years ago, he said.
