Cars will 'show and shine' at Lincolnville Octoberfest

Staff writer

A new item on this year’s Lincolnville Octoberfest schedule will be a Show and Shine Car Show.

Mayor Barb Kaiser said there would be no judging, but cars may drive through the 11 a.m. parade.

The festival will have a Hawaiian theme, “Okakopa Hoolaulea,” meaning “October Festival.” An evening luau meal will be served at the community center.

Centre High School class of 2017 will provide breakfast, and Centre PTA will serve lunch.

There will be hourly drawings beginning at noon.

Musical entertainment on stage in the park will include John Richards, a guitar player and singer; Freedom 724, a bluegrass band; and Brody Caster, guitarist and singer.

A hula-hoop dance contest will be at 4 p.m. Little Apple Amusements and other children’s activities will be available.

A blue rock shoot will be at the north edge of Lincolnville.

In place of a pumpkin-carving contest, there will be a sidewalk chalk contest.

Craft and food booths also will be available.

Car show participants are asked to call Brandy Hanson, (620) 381-4415; parade entrants, Lester and Barb Kaiser, (620) 924-5214; and vendors, Cris Peterson, (785) 561-0144.
