Chamber welcomes new teachers

Staff writer

Brown-bag lunches served in a school cafeteria welcomed new USD 410 teachers and staff at a Monday luncheon held by Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and Hillsboro Young Professionals.

“My biggest concern is having a great staff that’s old like me that’s maybe getting ready to get out the door and then replacing it with a great staff again,” said superintendent Max Heinrichs. “We had great people in all of our interviews and we feel very fortunate with all the new ones we have. We’re looking for some new energy from them.”

The free lunch, sponsored by Midway Motors of Hillsboro, included a school-supply drive in which the guests who filled Hillsboro Middle/High School cafeteria collectively donated 141 school supplies and $76.

“I always look forward to the fall — the sights, sounds, school is starting, the excitement there,” Heinrichs said. “I am really looking forward to a good year.”
