County residents win state fair awards

Staff writer

State fair results were announced last week, and county residents took home 38 awards between 17 contestants, including nine first-place awards.

A majority of the recognition came in livestock categories, with 11 competitors being awarded 22 awards for their work.

Area competitors also did well in agricultural and artistic competitions, where six contestants took home 15 awards between them, all of third place or better.

Candice Vinduska and Landon Roberts both won big during the fair. Vinduska was first in four agriculture categories, while Roberts had five livestock awards, including first, second, and third.

In addition to winning livestock awards, county resident Morgan Gaines took sixth in the Challenge of Champions, which recognizes members of FFA or 4-H for outstanding work.
