David Silhan

Funeral Mass for David W. Silhan, 62, who died Thursday at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro, will be at a time to be determined Saturday.

Born Nov. 28, 1963, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion, to Robert and Juanita (Dowell) Silhan, he graduated from Centre High School in 1982 and attended vocational-technial school in Salina, majoring in offset printing.

He was a custodian and bus driver for Marion schools, worked for Concrete Products, and was employed for 30-plus years by Marion County, driving semi-trailer trucks hauling rock and gravel and pushing snow.

He married Cheryl (Spohn) Silhan on Aug. 25, 1990, at the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. She died Jan. 8, 2018. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Jim.

Survivors include sons Jeffrey Silhan of Marion and Justin Silhan of Hillsboro, brother Mark Silhan, and five grandchildren.
