Durham City Council accepted the resignation Nov. 5 of Arnold Sommerfeld. He cited health reasons. The mayor was authorized to seek a replacement.

Mayor Mike Sorenson reported the county used 2,000 gallons of water for spraying. City Clerk Joyce Medley said the county was billed for it.

Sorenson also reported that several more junk cars were removed in response to the city’s recent request.

Gary Unruh volunteered to shut down the restrooms in the park for the winter. Unruh said he wants to look for a vent that could be a potential source of trouble in the water system.

Among the bills approved for payment were $36 for postage, $167 for two U.S. and two Kansas flags, $30 for a flagpole, $146 for Clorox, $484 for pump repairs, and $205 to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for testing.
