Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JULY 28

12:06 p.m. — A 62-year-old man with low blood pressure and a fever at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro was taken to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, by Hillsboro ambulance. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

12:37 p.m. — A 2-year-old boy having seizures at a home in the 200 block of W. 2nd St. in Peabody was checked by Marion ambulance attendants but taken to a hospital by a family member. Tampa ambulance was ordered to stand by at Marion until 1:13 p.m. in case of additional calls.

4:15 p.m. — A driver who injured her hand in a two-vehicle accident at US-56 and Limestone Rd. declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. Marion and Hillsboro firefighters and Hillsboro ambulance also were dispatched.

4:33 p.m. — A man with lower back pain at US-50 and 90th Rd. was checked by Hillsboro ambulance attendants at the request of law enforcement officers and taken to Wesley, to which it was diverted from NMC Health, Newton, by Hillsboro ambulance.

4:46 p.m. — A 94-year-old woman who fell at a farmhouse near 230th and Diamond Rds. was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Marion ambulance.

7:02 p.m. — A 70-year-old woman who fell and injured her forehead in the 1000 block of S. Ash St. in Hillsboro was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance. An ambulance supervisor provided initial care until the ambulance arrived. Tampa ambulance was ordered to stand by at Marion until 8:10 p.m. in case of additional calls.

JULY 29

9:50 a.m. — A 91-year-old woman who fell and hurt her head and wrist outside Carlsons’ Grocery in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

11:46 a.m. — A 72-year-old woman who fell at a home in the 800 block of S. Roosevelt St. in Marion was helped up by Marion ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.

1:55 p.m. — A man who, according to his grandson, became pinned beneath a vehicle at his home north of Pilsen on Remington Rd. was pronounced dead by Marion ambulance attendants. Marion firefighters lifted the vehicle off the victim.

2 p.m. — A 65-year-old man who fell in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. in Marion was helped up by Hillsboro ambulance attendants aboard a backup ambulance. He declined to be taken to a hospital.

4:48 p.m. — A 61-year-old women needing surgery was transferred by a backup ambulance from HCH to McPherson Center for Health.

7:18 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transferred an unspecified patient from HCH to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita.

THURSDAY

12:58 a.m. — A 67-year-old man with uncontrolled atrial fibrillation was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley.

8:50 a.m. — Goessel firefighters helped Moundridge ambulance attendants load a 72-year-old patient near 29th Ave. and Chisholm Rd. in McPherson County.

11 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to a false alarm at an unspecified location.

1:34 p.m. — An 86-year-old man with a small bowel obstruction was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health.

1:44 p.m. — Marion firefighters and ambulance, and the county emergency manager stood by until 1:54 p.m. outside Our Savior Lutheran Church while law enforcement officers checked on an unspecified threat at St. Luke.

8:36 p.m. — A 3-year-old seizing in a vehicle stopped in the 200 block of N. Santa Fe Ave. in Burns was checked by Burns first responders, an ambulance supervisor, and Marion ambulance attendants, who took the child to Wesley in a backup ambulance.

FRIDAY

3:28 a.m. — A medical alarm on behalf of an 89-year-old woman in the 100 block of S. Wilson St. in Hillsboro was determined before Hillsboro ambulance arrived to have been accidentally activated.

10:29 a.m. — A 10-year-old girl injured in what appeared to have been a bicycle accident in the 300 block of Adams St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance and transferred by a helicopter ambulance to an unspecified trauma center. Hillsboro firefighters and an ambulance supervisor also responded.

1:54 p.m. — An 85-year-old woman with chest pains at a home in the 100 block of S. Lincoln St. in Marion was taken to NMC Health by a backup ambulance based in Marion.

8:42 p.m. — At the request of law enforcement, Lincolnville firefighters were dispatched to an unauthorized fire in a brush pile at 240th and Timber Rds. Landowners were told that they needed permission before starting a fire, but the fire was allowed to continue burning.

9:35 p.m. — A 67-year-old woman who hurt her head when her motorcycle tipped over while she was trying to park at Dollar General in Peabody was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance. A Peabody first responder cared for the woman until the ambulance arrived. Peabody firefighters washed down blood from the injury.

SATURDAY

4:29 p.m. — An 86-year-old woman who fell and injured her head at Subway in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

8:45 p.m. — A man having a seizure at Westview Manor in Peabody was taken to NMC Health by a backup ambulance based in Marion.

SUNDAY

1:03 a.m. — A 6-year-old boy who swallowed medicine he shouldn’t have was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley.

11:26 p.m. — A 69-year-old woman with gastrointestinal issues was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Woodlawn.

MONDAY

2:03 p.m. — A weak, 80-year-old man lying on the ground in the 400 block of W. 8th St. in Florence declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance, which had to be alerted by telephone after a radio page failed.
