Goessel runners raced at Hesston and finished as the top 1A teams at this meet. The Swather Special has each grade running separately and six of the 12 Goessel runners medaled.

This was the first race of the season where the five-kilometer race was the only option for the girls. Jen Meysing earned a seventh place medal in the junior class and Lauren Rymil finished 19th. Julia Nightengale came in 18th in the sophomore class. The girls’ team placed 14th out of 22 teams.

Devon LeRoy and Freddy Scheffe finished sixth and 10th respectively in the junior class, earning medals. Zach Wiens came in 13th in the senior race. Leighton Wagner and Nate Impson rounded out the team for the boys. Goessel boys finished in 13th out of 24 teams

The Bluebirds will race at Bennington on Thursday.
