Helene Brunner

Helene E. Brunner, 93, of Herington, formerly of rural Burdick, died Saturday at home. She was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Wichita to Ernst and Minna (Pigorsch) Domann.

She was a homemaker and a telephone operator at the Burdick Switchboard Office and later retired from Helen’s Christian Bookstore, Herington. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington.

She married Victor P. Brunner on Jan. 19, 1941, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Brunner; two brothers, Arthur Domann and Edward Domann; and her parents.

She is survived by two sons, Gaylord Vic Brunner of Herington and Milton Brunner of Salina; a brother, Theodore Domann of Herington; a sister, Alice Lehman of Wichita; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Her funeral is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington, with the Rev. Troy Slater officiating. Committal will follow at Lewis Cemetery, Ramona. A prayer service was Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.

Memorial funds have been established for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington Hospital Foundation, and Dickinson County Hospice.
