Hillsboro runs out of steam

Hillsboro volleyball traveled to Halstead Saturday for the pre-season Central Kansas League Tournament.
The Trojans finished seventh among 10 schools, emerging from pool play with a 2-2 record.
The first loss came against Pratt in two matches, 20-25, and 14-25.
Hillsboro defeated a six-member Cardinal team from Hoisington in three matches, 25-15, 19-25, and 25-14.
Hesston came into the match with Hillsboro undefeated. The Trojans took advantage of Swather mistakes, winning the first set 25-22. Hillsboro led halfway through the second set, 16-13, but Hesston snatched the victory, 25-20. In the third set, Trojan mistakes allowed the Swathers to take the victory, 25-19.
Hillsboro finished pool play with a victory against Lyons in three matches, 25-18, 10-25, and 15-25.
In the final two games, the Trojans competed against Lyons and lost in three sets, 25-18, 10-25, and 15-25, and finished with a win against Smoky Valley, 25-20 and 25-16.
Their record is 3-3.
