Hillsboro runner Jonathan Hinerman qualified for state Saturday at 2A regional cross-country meet in Meade.
Hinerman took fifth with a time of 17 minutes, 59 seconds.
Coach Robert Haude said Hinerman has had a great season, and has a chance to win a state medal Saturday at Wamego.
“Jonathan is a smart and mature runner,” Haude said. “These two qualities are going to bode well for him.”
He was also proud of the rest of the Trojans’ competitive spirit at regionals.
“They showed the same toughness that they displayed all year when faced on difficult courses,” Haude said.
