John W. Varelman

John Wayne Varelman, 79, of Lost Springs, died Nov. 26 at Medicalodges of Herington.

He was born Feb. 26, 1935, to John and Clara E. Kettle Varelman of Emporia. Rusty and Eva Miller of Lost Springs raised him.

Varelman served in the Navy for more than 20 years and then worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He lived in Heber, Utah, for 16 years before returning to Lost Springs. He was a member of the Church of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by four daughters, Pamela Varelman Godinez, Tamera Varelman Gordon, Christina Varelman Shakespeare, and Debra Sue Varelman; three sons, Jonathan Varelman, Jeffrey Varelman, and James Varelman; one brother, Jerry Varelman; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A military committal service was Friday at Lost Springs Cemetery.
