Lady Trojans continue winning streak at home

Staff writer

Lady Trojans continued with their winning streak by sweeping Sterling in a double header Tuesday.

Not much went right for Sterling in the first game, as the Trojans defeated them 12-1, but during the second game Sterling put up a fight by scoring quickly in the first.

Hillsboro came back in the second inning with three runs.

By the third inning the Lady Trojans had doubled Sterling’s score and led 6-3 and didn’t look back allowing Sterling to only score once more in the game and winning 9-4.

The Lady Trojans will play Canton-Galva at home Friday.

Friday

The Lady Trojans made quick work of Kingman High School Friday in Hillsboro, winning 15-0 and 10-2.

Pitcher Allison Weber improved to 4-0 on the season after a shutout of the Eagles in the first game. The Trojans scored five runs in the first inning and seven in the second.

Three combined hits in the third and fourth innings gave Hillsboro a 15-run lead, and the win by run rule. Danae Bina led the Trojans with three hits and an RBI.

Julie Sinclair also improved to 4-0 with a win in the second game of the doubleheader.

Hillsboro never trailed, as its first four batters scored in the bottom of the first inning.

Kingman scored one run each in the second and sixth innings, while Hillsboro added six insurance runs for the 10-2 victory.
