Michael J. Childs Jr., 37, died Jan. 2 at his home in North Newton.

He was born April 4, 1975, in Hillsboro, to Michael Jay and Loretta Dee Smith Childs. He graduated from Marion High School and served in the U.S. Army 7th Cavalry Division for six years.

Michael worked at AGCO Corporation for 15 years as a design engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Amber Sadowsky Childs, whom he married in Newton; his mother, Loretta Childs of Marion; a stepson, Brody Scott, and two stepdaughters, Brittany Jaso and Briley Scott, all of Newton and two brothers, Roger Dale Hudlin of Osage City and Jason Russell Hudlin of Council Grove.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Misty Childs; and his father, Michael Jay Childs Sr.
