Nellie Penner
Services for Nellie Wohlgemuth Penner, 92, who died Monday at Moundridge Manor, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Alexanderfeld Church, rural Hillsboro.
Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Born July 9, 1933, near St. Anne, Manitoba, she attended a one-room school and was baptized Dec. 1, 1943, by pastor Isaac Toews.
She married Vernon Penner of Hillsboro on July 18, 1954, and the couple resided in Kansas City while he completed alternative service. They then moved to their family farm near Hillsboro.
She worked at Bethesda Home in Goessel and in the Salem Hospital kitchen until she was 74 years old. She moved into Hillsboro in 2005.
Her husband and all her siblings preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Jerry Penner of Moundridge and Howard Penner of Hythe, Alberta; daughters Millie Kendrick of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Leanne Penner of Moundridge; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
