Parents, grandparents, and friends have been busy the past two weeks attending graduations and programs.

Lola Redger attended Newton High School graduation at 7 p.m. May 16 at Athletic Park. Her grandson, Kyle Redger, was one of the graduates. Afterward, she went to a reception at the Ray Redger home.

Roy and Nadine Davis, Eileen Unruh and Katie, and Rick and LaVae Koehn went to a school program May 15 at Bloomfield, Iowa. This is where Rhonda teaches. They returned home Monday, and Rhonda came home Tuesday for the summer. Ransom and Lillian Wiebe also went to the school program at Bloomfield. Their grandson, Derek, son of Justin and Rebecca Wiebe, was an eighth grade graduate. They returned home Saturday.

The Cottonwood Grove School had a program Thursday evening, a basket dinner Saturday, and a play day that afternoon. This year’s eighth graders were Kyle Isaac, son of Stuart and Lea Isaac, and Jordan Wiebe, son of Nelson and Bev Wiebe.

Bruce and Cheryl Dirks went to Murray, Ky., the weekend of May 17 to visit Lavern and Lisa Litwiller and family and to attend some school activities.

Durham Senior Citizens hosted the monthly meeting of Senior Citizens of Marion County Inc. on May 15 at the community center.

Guests for dinner at the Clayton Wiebe home May 17 were Wendell and Linda Wedel, Mark and Kris Wiebe and family, Heath Dirks, and Sharon Redger of Cimarron.

Ransom and Lillian Wiebe went to a program Friday evening at Living Hope School near Copeland. Their granddaughter, Kristy Koehn, taught there.

Nathan Unruh and Lauren Geis were among Hillsboro eighth graders who were promoted. There was a reception in their honor afterward. Attending from here were the Warren Unruh family, Mark Unruh family, Ron and Dora Unruh, and the Wayne Geis family.

Dora Unruh went to the home of her daughter, Deb Hiebert, Monday. Deb recently had surgery.

Katelin Unruh went to a friend’s wedding Saturday in Kansas City.

Memorial Day visitors of Art and Barb Unruh were her niece, Amy, and Philip Kaufman.

Bruce and Cheryl Dirks invited Terry and Barb Hiebert and family, John and Ethel Steiner and Randall, Tim Davis and Dale, and Kathy Jantz as Sunday dinner guests.

Ken and Shelly Giesbrecht were hosts for a Memorial Day breakfast for Harry and Sheryle Rhodes, Darrin and Meri Kay Rhodes and family, and Calvin and Janene Wiebe and family.
