Marion County Lake will have organized paddle boat races for the second year.

This year’s event will include up to six races — two-person boats, four-person boats, and canoes/kayaks, each with divisions for boaters 12 or younger and older than 12.

Races will begin at 10 a.m. Aug. 10. Participants must have a regulation life vest for each racer. All boats must be inspected for zebra mussels, and cannot have been in another body of water in the previous seven days.

Park and Lake Superintendent Steve Hudson said the lake has three paddle boats that will be available.
