Peabody Sunday Cruise is back and better

Staff writer

Sunday will be the fourth Sunday in April — time for the first of seven monthly events in downtown Peabody featuring motorcycles, vintage cars, hot rods, and classic rides of all kinds.

Sponsored by Peabody Dreamers, the cruise features not only collectible and restored vehicles, but also a Sunday church service in Santa Fe Park, food and merchandise vendors, music, and downtown shopping.

The cruise will begin at 8 a.m. Walnut Street will be blocked off between First and Second streets to accommodate bikes and vehicles as well as vendors and shoppers mingling about. Food will be available from Peabody restaurants and vendor booths.

“So far the weatherman is promising 80-degree temperatures on Sunday and we are hoping he is right,” organizer Linda Martinez said. “Some of the same vendors will be on hand and I understand some new ones with vintage car parts might be here as well. We are hoping for a good turnout of cruisers. People seem to really enjoy looking over the vintage cars and swapping stories with others who enjoy them.”

The cruise will wind up about 1 p.m.

“Really, Marion County people ought to come down and check them out,” Martinez said. “There are some interesting rides around the state of Kansas and nice people that go along with them.”
