ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

March 4 — Police helped a child who had become lost at Memorial Park and worked on a tornado siren at Scout House. A possible scam was reported.

March 5 — A fender-bender in the 100 block of S. Birch St. was investigated. An arrest warrant alleging probation violation and failure to appear in court was served. A driver was stopped for speeding at Washington St. and Grand Ave. Police talked to a resident about a civil issue involving a vehicle.

Wednesday — Police escorted Hillsboro High School’s girls basketball team out of town for an appearance at the state basketball tournament in Dodge City. They again worked on the Scout House tornado siren and gave a ride home to a patient at Hillsboro Community Hospital. An unwanted person was removed from t Casey’s General Store and taken to the person’s home. Drivers were stopped at Ash St. and Grand Ave. for using a cell phone while driving and at 170th and Indigo Rds. for having defective lights.

Thursday — Police talked to a resident about a civil issue involving her boyfriend.

Friday — Police received a complaint about a semi-trailer truck’s driving but did not find the semi. An alarm and a disconnected 911 call from Great Plains Federal Credit Union were investigated, but no one was found at the savings and loan. A noise complaint in the 400 block of N. Ash St. was investigated.

Saturday — Drugs were found, and drunken driving was alleged after a Wichita woman was stopped for driving left of center at 120th and Indigo Rds. A report on the arrest of Taylor R. Gutierez, 31, Wichita, is pending. She was booked into Marion County Jail on suspicion of possessing cocaine, methamphetamine, depressants, and marijuana and of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She was released 21 hours later after posting a $20,000 bond. A suspicious person was reported at Parkside Homes. Police provided fuel to a stranded motorist on US-56 at Adams St. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 700 block of S. Washington St.

Sunday — Police spoke to a resident about an expired order of protection from abuse. An out-of-control juvenile was reported in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. Police investigated a noise complaint in the 400 block of N. Ash St.

MARION

March 4 — A dog bite was reported in the 100 block of S. Roosevelt St. Police broke up a fight between two juveniles at Central Park and spoke to their parents.

March 5 — A car-deer accident involving a sheriff’s deputy was investigated. A resident talked to police about a welfare check and police standing by during a civil matter.

March 6 — A juvenile was placed in protective custody and taken to Newton for a forensic interview. A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Timber Rd.

Thursday — Police investigated a report of a bad check being issued in the 1100 block of E. Main St. Two motorists were warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St.

Friday — An out-of-control student was reported at Marion Elementary School. Police helped a disabled motorist whose vehicle was blocking the intersection at Main and Coble Sts.
