Hillsboro police

Dec. 1: Police took a report of a possible check forgery and curfew violation.

Dec. 2: Officers responded to complaints of littering and damage, and harassment. Police also addressed a vehicle lockout at Tabor College, took a report of abandoned property along the old railroad tracks at the west end of town, checked on suspicious activity, and responded to a domestic disturbance that involved a verbal argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Later police took a harassment complaint in which a man reported that a person involved in an earlier domestic disturbance was harassing him.

Dec. 3: Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in which there was a verbal argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Officers also took a damage complaint and a truancy complaint.

Dec. 4: Police performed a civil standby, took an identity theft complaint, and took a possible theft report in which a woman stated that a check might have been stolen from her mailbox.

Thursday: Officers responded to a child custody dispute and took reports of a stolen bicycle and a reckless driver.

Friday: Police provided a funeral escort, responded to a vehicle lockout, and took a report of the inappropriate use of a slingshot by a juvenile. Officers also took a parking complaint, addressed a curfew violation, and responded to reports of an underage driver.

Nov. 21: Officers checked on a suspicious person who said he was waiting for his wife.

Nov. 22: Police responded to call of a juvenile at Oasis who had barricaded himself in a room, took a report of a dog at large but was unable to locate the dog, responded to a bank alarm, and assisted Life Team at St. Luke Hospital.

Nov. 23: Officers assisted Dickinson County Sheriff’s officers to locate the owner of suspicious vehicle and Marion ambulance with a call. Police responded to a noise complaint about a barking dog and advised the owners to bring him in at night, responded to a 911 disconnect call that turned out to be a false alarm; a call was later received from the same address and turned out to be a domestic battery and theft case. Police arrested Cyle Wilson, 20, of Marion on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of the legal process after a traffic stop where the driver’s stereo was too loud.

Nov. 24: Officers responded with Marion ambulance to a possible overdose, and met with a concerned resident.

Nov. 25: Police assisted Wichita Police Department with a hit-and-run investigation, attended training on railroad collision investigation, conducted a welfare check where everything was found to be OK, and assisted a motorist trying to find an open restroom.

Nov. 26: Police assisted Wichita Police Department with a hit-and-run investigation, assisted Marion Fire Department with a chimney fire on Lincoln St., conducted a welfare check where everything was found to be OK. Officers spoke to a resident about loud music coming from his garage and checked on a suspicious unoccupied vehicle.

Nov. 28: Officers assisted Marion ambulance on two separate instances in which a person had fallen, met with a resident in reference to an underage drinking party, but found it to be outside the city, returned lost property, and checked on an unattended vehicle.

Nov. 29: Police assisted Marion County Sheriff’s Department with a disabled vehicle and Marion ambulance with an elderly woman who had broken her leg. Police responded to the county jail for an out of control inmate, responded to Santa Fe St. to speak to an individual and conducted a civil standby with individual to get his items back. Police assisted Marion County sheriff’s deputies with an unwanted subject at a resident who broke out glass on the front door. Officers assisted McPherson County Sheriff’s department on an investigation and assisted sheriff deputies with a group of suspicious people trying to steal a trailer at the Peabody co-op.

Nov. 30: Officers checked out suspicious vehicles at the airport and aquatic center and took a report of a possible party outside of town.

Dec. 1: Officers took a report of vandalism, provided traffic control for Christmas parade, and took a report of possible reckless driving in the county.

Dec. 2: Police responded to a 911 disconnect that turned out to be a false alarm, did a civil standby, served municipal court papers, and transported a person found wandering around town to Kanza and U.S. 56, where he was picked up by another party and taken to Lost Springs.

Dec. 3: Police met with Oasis and spoke to two juveniles who were acting out; one was sent home for the day and the other remained at school. Officers responded to a non-injury accident.

Dec. 4: Officers took a criminal damage report where someone had kicked and broke the front of the pop machine at Carlsons’ Grocery.

PEABODY POLICE

Dec. 1: Police took a report of a burglary and theft from a residence. The case is under investigation.

Dec. 2: Police officers were involved in a high-speed chase with a subject in a vehicle who fled when stopped for a routine traffic check. Mickey Lee Brubaker was arrested and charged with felony fleeing and eluding law enforcement officers, driving while suspended, and aggravated endangerment of a child. The chase ended between Walton and Newton, westbound, after traveling at speeds of up to 100 miles an hour. Stop sticks deployed by Harvey County sheriff’s deputies and Newton City Police ended the chase. Officers also responded to a report of theft of vodka from E&J Liquor. Brandon Farrar was arrested after officers reviewed the store’s security tapes. Farrar was charged with misdemeanor theft.

Dec. 3: Police officers responded to a missing persons report at Westview Manor. Police took a complaint of disorderly conduct and a traffic complaint. Both are under investigation. Officers arrested Brandon Farrar for failure to appear on a Marion County District Court warrant.

Dec. 4: Todd Drinnen was arrested and charged with driving with an expired driver’s license and no proof of insurance.

Thursday: Police officers assisted with a juvenile situation.
