activity reports

In addition to routine patrol, inspection, report-writing, and training activities and assistance rendered to other agencies, city police reported these activities this past week:

hillsboro

May 7 — A dog complaint in the 300 block of N. Ash St. and a traffic complaint at D and Adams Sts. were investigated.

May 8 — A minor accident that did not require a report in the 500 block of E. Grand St., a report of harassment in the 200 of N. Main St., and a report of chickens being killed in the 400 block of S. Main St. were investigated.

May 9 — A parking complaint in the 100 block of N Main St. and a report of suspicious activity at the fairgrounds were investigated.

May 10 — A welfare concern in the 500 block of E. D St., a report of a minor vehicle accident in the 100 block of S. Main St., and a report of threat in the 300 block of S. Birch St. were investigated.

Friday —A report of a suspicious item in the 300 block of N. Washington St. was investigated.

Saturday — A report of a trailer stolen from a lot in Hillsboro heights was investigated; no report had been completed as of press time.

MARION

May 8 — A dog reportedly running free in the 1200 block of E. Main St. could not be located. Letters warning of inoperable vehicles were delivered. Oral warnings for traffic violations were issued. A possible forgery in the 1100 block of E. Main St. resulted in no official report. A report of reckless driving near Cedar and Main Sts. was attributed to a driver who told police he was tired.

May 9 — A non-injury accident in the 1100 block of E. Main St. and a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of S. Coble St. were investigated.

Police also took a report of a dog barking in the 400 block of S. Coble St. A traffic stop in the 600 block of E. Main St. resulted in an oral warning against texting while driving.

May 10 — Justin Chrisjohn, 40, and Melissa Truitt, 39, were jailed on suspicion of disorderly conduct after officers overheard loud music and shouting at 10:15 p.m. from an apartment in the 1200 block of E. Main St.

A disturbance in Central Park was deemed a civil matter, and no action was taken. A false alarm at a bank was investigated. No suspect was found in a possible stalking case in the 400 block of S. Coble St. Officers ran radar checks for speeding on S. 3rd St.

Thursday — Officers again ran radar checks on S. 3rd St. and attended a graduation ceremony at the OASIS special education program for students with behavioral and emotional disorders.

Friday — Officers directed traffic while city crews removed hay spilled at 1st and Main Sts. A motorist with an improperly restrained child received an oral warning. Officers also checked on a stranded motorist.

Saturday — Citations were issued for speeding (47 mph in a 30 mph zone) on Eisenhower Dr. and not wearing a seat belt in the 200 block of W. Main St. An oral warning was issued for an illegal J-turn.

Peabody

May 8 — A social media harassment complaint was investigated.

Friday — A report of a former employee trespassing on school property was investigated.

Saturday — Battery, assault, and threaten behavior at Peabody Health and Rehab were investigated; charges against a mentally challenged are being considered.

Sunday — Vandalism and a threat in the 800 block of N. Olive St. continue to be investigated.
