Police provided these reports this week of their activities. Routine activities are excluded.

HILLSBORO

June 25 — Officers searched vacant apartments for an escapee that the McPherson County sheriff thought might be hiding there. An unauthorized person also was removed from an apartment in the 400 block of N. Ash St. An unidentified person was arrested on outstanding warrants and suspicion of driving with a suspended license; jail records indicate that Tevin Smith, 26, of Hillsboro was jailed on the license matter. A broken window on a vehicle in the 500 block of S. Main St. was investigated.

June 26 — A traffic complaint in the 100 block of N. Cedar St., suspicious activity at the city shop, and a noise complaint in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. were investigated.

June 27 — The McPherson County escapee was found in an attic in the 400 block of N. Ash St. In addition to the escapee, another unidentified person was arrested on suspicion of interfering with law enforcement and harboring a fugitive. Suspicious activity in the 100 block of N. Main St. and a possible case of child neglect also were reported. Police also assisted in an investigation by immigration officers.

June 28 — An unattended death in the 100 block of E. A St., a person walking along US-56, a dog complaint in the 100 block of Elm St., a fireworks complaint on W. Grand Ave., and a curfew violation were investigated.

Thursday — A disgruntled employee was removed from a business in the industrial park.

Friday — Suspicious activity at the airport and an argument in the 300 block of N. Main St. were investigated.

Saturday — Officers tracked down residents who had left a loud stereo playing in their unoccupied home in the 900 block of E. D. St. A juvenile who had been damaging property at the swimming pool was located. A parking complaint at the sports complex was investigated as was a report of fireworks being discharged by neighbors in a resident’s yard in the 300 block of N. Birch St.

MARION

June 26 — Officers were unable to catch a dog running free in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St. A motorist near 3rd and Main Sts. was warned about illegal window tinting. A homeless person reported to be near US-56 and Timber Rd. could not be located. Officers helped a motorist whose vehicle broke down near US-56 and Remington Rd.

June 27 — Vulgar graffiti was removed from a sign near 4th and Santa Fe Sts. Motorists’ speeds on S. 3rd St. were checked by radar.

June 28 — Warnings were issued for various traffic infractions.

Thursday — Officers checked on the welfare of a resident of the 900 block of Denver St. and discussed a possible case of harassment. Warnings were issued for various traffic infractions.

Friday — A dog running free in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. was returned to its owner. Officers attempted catch dogs running free on S. 2nd St. and in the 400 block of N. Cedar St. A motorist at US-56 and Timber Rd. was warned about speeding. An open door in the 200 block of E. Main St. was secured.

Saturday — Officers spoke to residents about fireworks debris found in a roadway. A motorist was warned about not using a seat belt. A resident complained about a black pickup being driven recklessly.

Sunday — Officers met with kids shooting fireworks in a street and responded to other fireworks complaints and a disturbance in the 400 block of N. Coble St.

Peabody

June 26 — A report of a lost or stolen cell phone was investigated.

Saturday — A civil complaint in the 500 block of N. Vine St. was investigated.

Sunday — Kalah Selle of Peabody was arrested on suspicion of speeding and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
