Reed qualifies for state

Hillsboro freshman Tristan Reed will run in the 2A state meet after finishing eighth at regionals.

He ran the 5K race in 18 minutes, 51 seconds.

Fellow freshman Caleb Diener missed out on qualifying, finishing 12th in 19:45.

Hillsboro finished fifth in Saturday’s regional race at Meade. The top three teams qualified for state.

Junior Caleb Rempel finished 24th in 20:04, junior Tucker Moss finished 44th in 21:43, sophomore Jason Latham finished 58th in 22:41, and junior Orin Blecha finished 69th in 26:29.

Lady Trojans freshman Iris Klein was less than half a second from qualifying for state, finishing 15th in 24:05. The top 14 girls qualified in the race.

Junior Abby Driggers finished 34th in 26:46, followed a second behind by sophomore Millie Sechrist, who finished 35th. Freshman Maddie Suderman finished 44th in 28:32.

Reed races at 10:35 a.m. Saturday at Wamego.
