Long waits to register a vehicle can make anyone grumpy. County Treasurer Jeannine Bateman said people could speed things up by having the right documents.
“What we run into the most are people who have bought a new car, but when they come in to tag it, don’t have the right documents,” she said.
Bateman said people applying for a title for a new car need two-documents: proof of ownership, also called a bill of sale, and proof of insurance. Proof of insurance can include an insurance card, certificate, or policy binder.
Customers have 60 days to tag their new vehicle.
For tag renewals, customers can skip lines by filling out an application online at https://www.kswebtags.org.
