Members of the USD 410 school board will search for a new member this month.
Because Kathy Decker declined her write-in election to Position 6, the opening is for the taking. It will expire June 30, 2015.
“Board members are going to go around asking for interested people to serve, and if there is no interest at that point in time, it’s strictly by board appointment,” Superintendent Steve Noble said.
Noble said the board was looking for somebody who cares about children, the public school system, and the community.
Those looking to join the board must live south of Second Street and east of Washington Street.
“If they have those qualities that they really care about, and they want to see the best thing they can do for kids, they’ll make a good board member,” Noble said.
During its meeting Monday, the school board an emergency evacuation agreement that will provide school buses to transport Salem Homes residents in an emergency evacuation.
The board also elected Mark Rooker as vice president, and re-elected Eddie Weber as president.
