School board to spend over $96,000 on computers

Staff writer

USD 410 school board approved a request at Monday’s meeting to purchase 41 laptops and 67 desktop computers from Twotrees Technologies.

Superintendent Max Heinrichs said the purchase is in a three-year rotation to purchase new technology, and will include 25 staff computers and laptops: Nine laptops for middle school staff, 15 for leadership and office staff, one for both Parents as Teachers and TEEN directors.

New desktops also will be placed in both Dennis Boldt’s and Nathan Heibert’s computer labs, as well as the technology center lab.

Heinrichs said the three-year rotation has worked well for the district.

“We’ve always been on three year rotation, but now that we’ve added the 1-to-1s, we’ve kind of changed how we do that,” Heinrichs said.

Another request for an estimated cost of $12,088.31 for 20 Chromebooks for Hillsboro Elementary School staff and 49 Lenovo Docks also was approved.

“Those are items that change daily, so we don’t’ know what the exact price will be,” Heinrichs said. “It could be less, could be more. It won’t be much of a difference though, but if we have them approve an exact price, we have to hold it to that exact price.”
