School supply drive scheduled

For the second year, Butler Community College is organizing a supply drive for USD 408 students who cannot afford new crayons, pencils, washable markers, glue, scissors and notebook paper.

Boxes will be located at the Chamber of Commerce, Carlsons’ Grocery, Marion Health Mart Pharmacy, St. Luke Hospital, Marion Presbyterian Church, Marion Senior Center, and Butler of Marion.

Last year so many supplies were donated, schools still have some things left over.

“That’s why this year we’re asking for mostly things that really only stay good for one year, and also for backpacks,” said Amy Kjellin, director of Butler of the Flint Hills.
