An outdoor worship service followed by a potluck meal will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 6 at West Branch Park in Goessel. Attendees should bring lawn chairs and table service and food to share. Contact Goessel Mennonite Church at (620) 367-2446 for more information.

An afternoon “faspa” or lunch, at the Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum will be Oct. 13. The event will feature a hymn sing beginning at 3 p.m. at the preparatory school, and faspa served at 4 p.m.

Guests are invited to bring their appetite and their favorite hymn requests.

A pumpkin decorating contest will be held for those 12 and under Oct. 26 at the Bethesda Home Chapel. Ribbons will be awarded to those who place first second and third, with prizes awarded to all participants.

Pumpkins will be judged by Bethesda Home residents during the week of Halloween. They can be picked up Oct. 31 in the evening or anytime Nov. 1.

Pumpkins must be small or medium sized and decorated only. No carved pumpkins will be judged. Contact Paula at the Goessel City Office at (620) 367-8111 for more information.

Residents are invited to a community Thanksgiving meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Goessel High School cafeteria.

Musical entertainment by Elbiata Singers will be provided after the meal at 6:30 p.m.

Area Walk is Sunday

The first Goessel Area Harvest Giving Walk (formerly Goessel Area CROP Walk), will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, starting from Tabor Mennonite Church.

The mission is to help feed the hungry in the local community and around the world. Area residents can help by walking or donating to a walker. Money raised will go to the Mennonite Central Committee and the local Tabor Food Pantry.
