Sheriffs' deputy graduates from law enforcement training center

Marion County Sheriff’s deputy Joshua Melizawas named last week as one of 22 December graduates of Kansas Law Enforcement’s training center near Yoder.

Meliza has been working at the sheriff’s department seven months, according to sheriff Bob Craft, but now has his official registration.

The new officers, members of the center’s 260th basic training class, received completion certificates, and Kansas law enforcement certification.

The graduates, who began training in September, came from 20 law enforcement agencies across Kansas.

About 300 officers enroll in KLETC 14-week basic training programs. The center offers continuing education and specialized training to over 10,000 Kansas officers each year.
