Stephan Jeremiah Nickel was born July 18 at Newton Medical Center to Kevin and Yvette Nickel of rural Newton. He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces at birth and was 20 inches long.

He has a big sister, 3-year-old Corynn.

Delbert and Janine Peters of rural Goessel are his maternal grandparents. Elton and Denise Nickel of Goessel are his paternal grandparents. Martha Peters, Bertha Nickel, and LeRoy and Alice Funk, all of Goessel, are his great-grandparents.
