Tom and Dee Duggan went to Topeka Oct. 2 through 4 to attend meetings of the Silver-Haired Legislature. Sunflower Senior Citizens met Oct. 9 at the café for dinner, then went to the senior center for dessert and their monthly meeting with the Duggans as hosts. Tom Duggan shared information that the Silver-Haired Legislature will present to the state legislature. Cassie Clemmer told about services she offers at Jim’s Salon on Main Street and answered questions. Her father, Dale Clemmer, and her sons, Christian and Connor Carter, accompanied her. The boys sang several songs. Those present included Betty Mueller, Raymond and Janet Bielefeld, Leo and Sue Yanda, Edna Backhus, Phyllis Mueller, Tillie Hein, Connie McMahon, Ramona Beisel, Lucille Kerbs, and Jane Vajnar.

Anna Weber and her parents, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, were among senior volleyball players and parents honored Oct. 9 at Parents’ Night at Centre.

Jane Vajnar visited Leona Kleiber on Oct. 9.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer, and others attended Centre High School homecoming festivities Oct. 5. Justin Deines and Beka Basore were crowned homecoming king and queen. Attendants were Anna Weber, Carrie Carlson, Houston Svoboda, and James Wyatt.

David Hall of Columbus, Ohio, spent the weekend with Tom and Dee Duggan. Deb Hall of Herington joined them on Oct. 8 when they visited Eisenhower Museum in Abilene. David stopped at Lee’s Summit, Mo., to visit Darla Hall.

Glenn Kerbs of Dodge City spent the weekend with his mother, Lucille Kerbs. They ate Sunday dinner in Hillsboro.

Becky Routh and Danielle of Augusta, Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion, Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik, Tanner and Allie of Pilsen, and Adeline Bernhardt came to Leona Kleiber’s home Oct. 7 to celebrate her birthday, which was Oct. 1. The Rouths and Vinduskas brought birthday cakes, ice cream, and brownies. The guests watched Leona open her gifts. Some family members were unable to come but Leona enjoyed many birthday greetings by phone.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer attended Octoberfest on Oct. 6 in Lincolnville. They saw a number of family members at the James Weber Memorial Softball Tournament.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber of Salina visited his mother, Leona Kleiber, on Oct. 6 since they were unable to attend her party on Sunday.

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League met Oct. 4 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Adeline Bernhardt as hostess. Pastor Clark Davis led the Bible study. Joyce Medley gave opening and closing devotions. Others present were Leona Kleiber, Betty Mueller, Kathy Davis, and Janet Bielefeld.
