The infamous influenza virus has been making the rounds in the Tampa community, which partly accounts for lack of news this week. It has even afflicted many who received the flu vaccine.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended the senior citizens meeting Jan. 23 at Durham. Tom informed the group about the Silver-Haired Legislature. Doris Crothers hosted the meeting, and Dallas Redger led Bingo games.
Prairie Pals met Jan. 22 in the church basement. The officers served as hostesses. The program consisted of quizzes about Kansas and Presidential inaugurations, and several games of Apples to Apples. Those present were Laveta Meyer, Lori Meyer, Mary Clemmer, and Jane Vajnar.
Mary Clemmer has received word of the death of her cousin, Frank Bills of Severy.
Raymond Bielefeld and Tom and Dee Duggan attended the Marion County Senior Citizens board meeting Jan. 18 in Hillsboro. The Duggans later joined a group of friends at the home of Don and Joyce Kemble in Herington to play cards. They went to Salina on Jan. 21 for a medical appointment and to visit Cleo and Larry Plaggerman.
Jeanne Rziha met several of her siblings and some of their family members Jan. 19 in Abilene. Others present were Louise Bevilacqua, Winfield; Beth Bevilacqua, Wichita; Janey Hummel, Haysville; Bill and Linda Haslouer, Chuck and Ellen Haslouer, and Paul Haslouer, all of Hope; Jason Haslouer and his girlfriend, Vanessa, Junction City; Susan and Ron Denney, Independence; and Carol Whitehair and Greg Haslouer, Abilene.
Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson in Abilene on Jan. 17 and accompanied her to Salina for an appointment, dinner out, and shopping. They visited Allison Sluder and Brooklyn afterward in Abilene.
