A large crowd turned out for a soup dinner and silent auction Feb. 17 at the Tampa Senior Center. The event was a benefit for Rachel Davis, who has high medical expenses because of kidney problems. Part of the funds raised were matched by Thrivent Financial.
Family members gathering Feb. 16 at Mr. K’s Farmhouse in Abilene to celebrate Lucille Kerbs’ 80th birthday were Glenn Kerbs, Eloise Kerbs, Clayton Kerbs, Reuben and Cristy Kerbs, Charlotte, and R.J., Tim and Marchelle Kerbs, Molly Kerbs, April Reidy, Cierra, and Gracie, Doug and Connie Thompson and Taylor, Jeremy and Allison Sluder and Brooklyn, Russ and Julie Kerbs, Rustyn Kerbs, Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney, Virgil and Barb Gooding, Bonnie Seaman, Al and Lila Gooding, and Roy and Jolene Presley. Following the meal, Connie Thompson read a letter she wrote to her mother about her life growing up, Tim and Marchelle Kerbs took turns reminiscing, and Taylor Thompson played guitar and sang, “The Best Day.” Connie Thompson served cupcakes and ice cream.
Cassidy Mischler and her husband and his cousin of Wichita were visitors of Frank and Anna Mae Stika on Feb. 18.
Cecilia Marie, Anthony, and Daniel Rziha of Tulsa, Okla., spent Feb. 14 to 18 with their grandparents, Jerry and Jeanne Rziha. Additional overnight guests Feb. 15 were Isobel and Samuel Rziha. David and Catarina Rziha and Kathrine also spent some time with them. Wayne Rziha met his parents Feb. 14 in Wichita and Feb. 18 in Hillsboro to pick up the children.
Tom and Dee Duggan, Kaylee Hall, and Alexa Amman spent Feb. 16 and 17 in Lee’s Summit, Mo., visiting Darla Hall, Adam Hall, and Alex Olsen.
Supper guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika on Feb. 15 were Nikki Stenzel of Manhattan, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, and Anna and Lori Moldenhauer. The occasion was a celebration of Valentine’s Day and Ronnie Hanschu’s birthday. Valentine gifts were exchanged.
Glenn Kerbs of Dodge City was a supper and overnight guest of his mother, Lucille Kerbs, on Feb. 15.
Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan were among nearly 300 people attending a dinner and concert Feb. 14 at the Marion Community Center, put on by Country Lakes Café. David Vogel was master of ceremonies. Performers included the Ballknockers, a group from Butler Community College, a group of cloggers from McPherson, and other talent.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended the Marion County Senior Citizens board meeting Feb. 15 in Durham.
