Track and field season got off to a good start for Hillsboro on Tuesday, with both the boys and girls teams finishing second at a Central Kansas Track League meet in Marion.
The boys finished well behind first-place Marion, but their 97 points were 23 better than third-place Sedgwick.

Brodie Rathbone placed second in both long and triple jumps, while Wes Shaw placed second in discus and third in shot put.
The girls’ team had a solid lock on second, outpacing Sedgwick by 16 points.
On the track, Abby Sechrist took home the crown in the 800, and Brittany Schale won the 1600.
The 4x800 relay team of Schale, Sechrist, Kennedy Klein, and Eva Franz took first, while the 4x100 and 4x400 relays placed second.
Marah Franz and Sienna Kaufman finished first and third in pole vault, while Paige Craney and Callie Linnens placed second and third in discus.
