Ty and Terra Reusser, who operate R2 Center for Dentistry in Wichita, are purchasing the practice of longtime Marion dentist Gerald Vinduska, who is moving to Hutchinson for family reasons.

Co-valedictorians Bailey Robson, Elizabeth Meyer, and McKenzee Remmers are pictured celebrating their graduation Saturday from Marion High School. Sydnee Baldwin was salutatorian. Adam Kjellin was named outstanding senior boy, and Meyer was named outstanding senior girl.

Flint Hills Gold, the last remaining jewelry store in Marion County, will close Saturday after 30 years. Owner Bev Schorr is retiring and moving to Colorado.

John Wheeler was sworn in Monday to replace Chad Adkins, who resigned May 9 from Marion City Council to move out of state.

Peggy Blackman, who was mayor from 1977 to 1986, will take over June 2 as director of Marion City Museum, replacing the late Cynthia Blout, who had served for 16 years.

Construction workers are photographed installing a new 20-foot-high racquetball wall at Marion’s East Park.

The National Orphan Train Complex in Concordia will unveil on June 3 a renovated train car that served for years at the Owl Car Café in Marion.

The car was one of two that hauled passengers to and from Chingawasa Springs on the Marion Belt and Chingawasa Springs Railroad in the late 1880s and early 1890s.

Marion officials gave the car to the museum more than 10 years ago. It since has been restored and dubbed The Legend.

Sophomore third baseman Danae Bina of Marion scored the first of three runs in a go-ahead rally and fielded the final out in Butler Community College’s 4-2 victory Saturday as national junior college champion.
