William Scully’s investment and land management activities were revealed recently in a book, “Landlord William Scully,” a product of more than 30 years of research by Marion native Homer E. Socolofsky, who graduated from high school here in 1940.
Verna Riffel, Lincolnville, is pictured as she looks at her watercolor, “Oregon Seascape,” displayed along with 13 of her paintings at Farmers and Drovers National Bank in Marion. Riffel has been painting seven years. Her work will be exhibited for about two months.
Lieutenant Colonel Laura Jane Bredemeier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Bredemeier of Marion, has received her second meritorious service medal from the Army for her service as a nurse at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. Bredemeier is now stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and will retire from service in three years.
Evelyn Ollenberger was guest of honor Thursday at a retirement dinner at Stone Inn. She is retiring from Case & Son Insurance after working there 49 years 4 months.
