Work started this week on remodeling the front of a building on Main St. that is owned by Norman Collins and houses both the Chamber of Commerce and JoAnn’s Hair Fashions. Kelly Construction is doing the work.
Mike Jordan, 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jordan of Marion County Lake, was declared winner of the Quivira Council’s pinewood derby Sunday at TaWaKoNi Activity and Training Center near Augusta. Mike is a member of Pack 102, sponsored by Marion Kiwanis Club.
Mrs. Leland Heidebrecht was elected president of Marion Parent-Teacher Association at a regular meeting April 20. Other officers elected were Mrs. Bruce Hett, vice president; Mrs. Richard Meisinger, treasurer; and Mrs. John Summerville, secretary.
Births announced in this issue include Rebecca Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Swan, born April 26; LeAnn Dawn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hiebert, April 28; Rebekah Ruth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ramon R. Zook, Florence, April 29; and Gabriel Spencer Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Higgins, Marion, May 3.
