ACCIDENTS
REPORTED
These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
170th and Indigo Rds.
After passing another vehicle at 5:37 p.m. Jan. 22 on Indigo Rd., Emery R. Dalke, 18, rural Hillsboro, failed to slow his 1998 Ford Ranger enough to avoid rear-ending a 2007 Pontiac G6 that Richard W. Hiebert, 67, of a different rural Hillsboro address had slowed to turn onto 170th Rd.
Neither driver reported injury, according to one of five accident reports released Friday by the sheriff’s department.
However, both of the vehicles were listed as destroyed — Dalke’s pickup with damage to its front, hood, and undercarriage and Hiebert’s car with damage to its rear, trunk, and undercarriage. Dalke’s pickup ended up running off the road to the right.
Deputy Bruce Burke’s report blames the wreck on inattentive driving by Dalke, but no tickets are listed as being issued.
K-150 east of Alfalfa Rd.
A westbound 1999 Ford Explorer, allegedly being driven too fast for conditions at 11:25 a.m. Jan. 25, sideswiped a 2017 Ford F-250 that also was westbound.
The older pickup, owned and driven by Tammi A. Clark, 61, of Edgerton, sustained disabling damage to its front, left, and undercarriage and was towed. Three children — Hank, Finn, and Miles Clark, ages 5 to 8, all of the driver’s address — were passengers.
The other pickup, owned and driven by Delmar G. Nightengale, 74, Galva, sustained damage characterized as minor to its passenger side.
Both pickups ran off the road to the right after colliding.
Deputy Bruce Burke’s report blames the wreck on Clark driving inattentively and too fast for conditions, but no tickets are listed as being issued.
US-56/77 north of 270th Rd.
Brice J. Mebane, 28, Four Oaks, North Carolina, hit a deer at 10:27 p.m. Jan. 26 with his 2019 Dodge Challenger.
The car sustained disabling damage to its front and hood and was towed.
200 block of S. Buller St., Goessel
An unoccupied and legally parked 1991 Chevrolet C1500 pickup was sideswiped at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 28 by a hit-and-run driver.
Damage to the driver’s side of the pickup, owned by Dustyn S. Gagnon of Goessel, was characterized as minor.
K-256 east of Eisenhower Dr.
Nathan D. Hiebert, 45, rural Goessel, hit a deer at 9:18 p.m. Thursday with his 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and then drove home before reporting the wreck.
The pickup sustained damage to its front and hood. Children Isaiah, 8, and Bennett, 6, of the same address were passengers at the time.
MARION
Cedar St. south of Main St.
Lynn E. Kleiber, 72, Marion, backed his 2010 Ford F-150 out of a driveway at 7:40 p.m. Thursday and into a legally parked 2010 Subaru Forester owned by Daniel K. Madgwick of Marion.
Damage to the left rear of Kleiber’s pickup was characterized as minor. Madgwick’s sport-utility vehicle sustained more extensive damage to its left front but remained drivable.
No tickets were listed as being issued.
