These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
K-15 at US-56 / Holly Rd.
Malfunctioning brakes were blamed for a southbound1987 Ford F-150 rear-ending a 2010 Toyota Corolla stopped at a stop sign at 7:01 p.m. Sept. 22 on K-15 at US-56, according to one of seven accident reports released Thursday by the sheriff’s department.
Nora M. Hein, 17, rural Hillsboro, had stopped her Toyota, owned by Kerry W. Hein of the same address.
James E.L. Bolling, 60, Tulsa, told deputy Peyton Heidebrecht he attempted to stop behind Hein’s car, but the brakes failed.
The Toyota sustained damage characterized as minor. No damage to the Ford was reported.
K-15 north of 290th Rd.
Heather N. Clemmer, 41, rural Lincolnville, hit a deer at 6:35 a.m. Sept. 26 with a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Charles D. Clemmer of the same address.
The Jeep remained drivable with damage to its right front. The wreck was reported 3½ hours after it occurred.
US-56/77 south of 250th Rd.
Dianna F. Mather, 71, Lakewood Ranch, Florida, hit a coyote at 1:27 a.m. Sept. 27 with a 2025 Nissan Altima owned by Ean Holdings of Tulsa.
Damage to the left front of the Nissan was characterized as minor.
McKenze J. Barricklow, 31, Bradenton, Florida, was a passenger.
US-56 east of Old Mill Rd.
Jasmine N. Helms, 30, Gainesville, Florida, hit a coyote at 10:28 a.m. Sept. 28 with a 2025 Nissan Versa owned by Ean Holdings of Tulsa.
The Nissan remained drivable with damage to its front.
K-15 south of 120th Rd.
Garrett M. Will, 22, Newton, hit a deer at 6:51 a.m. Sept. 29 with his 2008 Ford Fusion, which remained drivable with damage to its front, hood, and left fender.
Old Mill Rd. north of 10th Rd.
As reported in a story last week, Lavern D. Stucky, 87, rural Peabody, died when his 1999 GMC C7500 grain truck veered off the road to the right and rolled onto its top in a ditch, trapping him inside at 5:20 p.m. Sept. 29.
Peabody firefighters performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation but failed to revive him.
Sycamore St. north of 1st St., Peabody
Kaden J. Sekavec, 21, Peabody, backed his 2000 Jeep Cherokee into a legally parked 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer at 10:17 p.m. Sept. 30.
The Jeep was undamaged, according to deputy Peyton Heidebrecht’s report, while the Chevy, owned by Ean Holdings of Tulsa and bearing Arizona license plates, sustained damage characterized as minor to its left front.
Heidebrecht blamed the wreck on improper backing. No tickets were listed as being issued.
HILLSBORO
Orchard Dr. at US-56
A disabled 2006 Ford F-150 being towed by a 2004 Ford Mustang veered into the rear of the Mustang as the vehicles were turning south at 12:50 p.m. Sept. 29.
The Mustang, owned and driven by Ethan J. Agee, 18, Wichita, sustained disabling damage to its left rear and was towed.
Matthew J. Agee, also listed as 18 from the same Wichita address, was steering the F-150 at the time.
No tickets were listed as being issued.
400 block of E. A St.
Kinsley M. Watts, 15, rural Hillsboro, turned too sharply at 9 p.m. Sept. 30 while backing a 1985 Chevrolet S10 out of a parking space and locked bumpers with a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado parked next to her truck.
Kinsley’s truck, owned by Richard J. Watts of the same address, sustained what was characterized as minor damage to its left front fender and bumper.
The other truck, owned by Caden D. Friesen, rural Marion, sustained damage to its right rear fender.
Because the accident occurred in a parking lot rather than on a street, only an informal courtesy report was filed.
US-56 west of Jade Rd.
Merlin D. Funk, 62, Hillsboro, hit one of two raccoons that ran into the path of his westbound 2018 Ford Fusion at 9:43 p.m. Saturday.
The car remained drivable with damage to its undercarriage and possibly front grill and radiator.
Penni A. Funk, 60, of the same address, was a passenger.
The accident was reported after Funk returned home and discovered that his car had been damaged.
MARION
Cedar St. south of Lawrence St.
Mary J. O’Conner, 74, Marion, backed her 2014 Ford Explorer out of her driveway at 11:50 a.m. Oct. 1 and into a 2025 Nissan Sentra that police say was parked illegally in a no-parking zone across the street.
The Nissan, owned by Michael L. Rumford of Wichita, remained drivable with damage to its driver’s side.
O’Conner’s pickup sustained damage characterized as less severe to its left rear.
No tickets were listed as being issued.
Roosevelt St. south of Melvin St.
Mindy L. Ruck, 50, Marion, backed her 2018 Ford F-150 out of her driveway at 1:45 p.m. Sunday and into a 2015 Honda Civic legally parked across the street.
Ruck’s pickup sustained damage characterized as minor to its rear.
The Honda, owned by Brad A. Edwards of Benton, remained drivable with damage characterized as more serious to its left front.
No tickets were listed as being issued.
