Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

SEPT. 30

11:43 a.m. — A false alarm at Bethesda Home in Goessel was determined by Goessel firefighters to be caused by maintenance workers testing the system.

2:04 p.m. — A 29-year-old inmate who reportedly injured her head at Marion County Jail declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

2:35 p.m. — An 89-year-old man with altered mental status was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

8:32 p.m. — A driver who hurt her arm and head when her car was rear-ended by a vehicle that left the scene at 5th and Spruce Sts. in Peabody was checked by Peabody firefighters. She declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

OCT. 1

10:19 a.m. — An uninjured 64-year-old woman who fell at a house in the 400 block of S. Thorp St. in Marion was helped up by Marion ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.

THURSDAY

3:45 a.m. — A 64-year-old man who fell 30 minutes earlier at Bown-Corby Apartments in Marion was helped up by Marion ambulance attendants and firefighters and then taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

4:48 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance left to stand by until 6:51 p.m. at a football game at Hillsboro.

5:27 p.m. — Marion ambulance left to stand by until 7:09 p.m. at a football game at Peabody.

7:43 p.m. — Marion firefighters stood by until 9:23 p.m. at a high school homecoming bonfire at Marion.

11:01 p.m. — A 55-year-old woman with liver failure was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita.

FRIDAY

2:23 a.m. — A 57-year-old man with pancreatitis was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

6:02 a.m. — An 81-year-old man with cardiac issues was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center.

8:35 a.m. — An 85-year-old man complaining of weakness at a house near 150th and Kanza Rds. was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

11:22 a.m. — A 72-year-old woman who fell and cut her head at the county transfer station in Marion declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. Ambulance attendants advised St. Luke Hospital of her injury and that she would head there by private vehicle.

6:23 p.m. — Tampa ambulance left to stand by at a football game at Centre High School.

6:45 p.m. — As it was arriving at Centre, Tampa ambulance was reassigned along with Marion ambulance and Lincolnville first responders to a report of an unconscious 30-year-old diabetic man at Agri-Trails Co-Op in Lincolnville. Marion ambulance took over care of the patient but reported that despite being in serious condition he declined to be taken to a hospital.

6:51 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance left to stand by until 9:16 p.m. at a football game at Hillsboro.

7:29 p.m. — Tampa ambulance returned to the Centre game.

7:44 p.m. — Marion ambulance announced that it was heading to Marion to stand by at a football game but reported two minutes later that it instead would head to St. Luke to transfer an unspecified patient to St. Francis.

8:06 p.m. — Reached by telephone because of spotty radio reception, Tampa ambulance concluded standing by at Centre and headed to Marion to replace Marion ambulance at a football game there. Tampa ambulance remained there until 9:17 p.m.

11:34 p.m. — An uninjured 37-year-old woman who fell at a house near Random and Trail Rds. at Marion County Lake was helped up by Marion ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.

SATURDAY

9:51 a.m. — Two Marion fire trucks and Tampa ambulance left to join Lincolnville fire trucks until 11:19 a.m. for Lincolnville’s Octoberfest parade.

5:58 p.m. — A county jail inmate with a possibly dislocated shoulder declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance, which for unspecified reasons responded instead of Marion ambulance.

SUNDAY

9:52 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was dispatched to transfer a 52-year-old man with respiratory failure from HCH to NMC, but at 11:22 a.m. ambulance attendants reported that they would not be transporting the patient.

12:25 p.m. — A Marion firefighter asked for Hillsboro ambulance to be dispatched for an 85-year-old woman who fell and hit the back of her head outside Panda Kitchen in Hillsboro. The ambulance took her to HCH.

2:49 p.m. — A 72-year-old woman who may have suffered a stroke at a house in the 200 block of N; Plum St. in Peabody was taken by Hillsboro ambulance on an emergency basis to St. Francis.

MONDAY

10:13 a.m. — A 62-year-old man who fell and hurt his head at Westview Manor in Peabody was taken to NMC by Hillsboro ambulance.

12:13 p.m. — A dizzy and nauseated 39-year-old woman with a history of anemia who fell and could not get up at a farmhouse near 230 and Diamond Rds. was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

2:24 p.m. — A 27-year-old man who fell and hurt his knee at Hilltop Manor apartments in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

10:26 p.m. — A 79-year-old woman with weakness after receiving chemotherapy was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH from the 300 block of N. Ash St. in Hillsboro.

10:41 p.m. — Marion ambulance stood by in the area of 9th and Elm Sts. in Peabody until deputies could determine whether a semi-conscious man lying on the ground there needed the ambulance. Ambulance attendants eventually were told he did not.
